– DESTILLIATION: Alcohol seems to have been known to most nations in ancient times, but it was studied scientifically for the first time in France in the Middle Ages by Arnaud de Villeneuve who ascribed to it almost magical properties, such as the power to prolon life. Hence the term “Eau-de-Vie” or water of life.
